RESOLUTION 9-17 Overtures 9-17, 23–32, 36–40, 44–45, 48, 52 (CW, 475–76, 480–95)

WHEREAS, The floor committee has considered all overtures assigned to it and has concluded, for various reasons, that certain overtures should be declined; therefore be it

Resolved, That the following overtures be respectfully declined for the reasons given:

Ov. 9-17 To Initiate Proposal to Realign Districts Bylaw 4.1.1.3 not followed

Ov. 9-23 To Affirm Regional Selection of Board Members Bylaws 3.3.4.1, 3.8.2.3, and 3.8.3.3 already reflect the intent of the overture

Ov. 9-24 To Create Task Force to Develop Overture for Change in Regional Vice-President Selection All vice-presidents, in line of succession, should be elected by the Synod

Ov. 9-25 To Amend Bylaws to Allow Regional Delegates to Select Regional Vice-Presidents Constitution Article X A 2: Vice-presidents are officers of Synod, not only officers of a region

Ov. 9-27 To Appoint Task Force to Improve District Representation on Synod Boards, Boards of Regents, and Commissions Addressed by Bylaw section 3.12

Ov. 9-28 To Amend Bylaw 3.2.4.1 to Limit Terms of Office for President, First Vice-President, Regional Vice-Presidents, and Secretary To place a limit upon the Synod President that does not apply to his representative District Presidents is a policy inconsistency. Tenure is limited by being up for election each Convention.
