Methodology

Source hierarchy and review posture

The site is built to distinguish source text, summary, analysis, opinion, inference, and proposed amendment language.

Source hierarchy

  1. Scripture
  2. Lutheran Confessions
  3. Official LCMS Constitution, Bylaws, Handbook, Workbook, reports, overtures, nominee materials, floor committee materials, and convention resources
  4. Uploaded project documents and reviewed notes
  5. Reviewed pastoral and mission-preparation materials as a mission lens
  6. Clearly labeled inference

When sources appear to be in tension, the site should name that tension carefully and cite the relevant sources. Unverified claims should be removed or clearly marked as unverified.

Reviewed preparation materials may be used as a mission lens, not as a replacement for Scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, or the official constitutional and bylaw order of the LCMS.

Clearly labeled AI-assisted discernment aids may appear on overture pages as draft analysis and prayer material, while official Workbook source text remains separately labeled and should be read before forming conclusions.

The Today's Business page hosts uploaded Today's Business PDFs as a reading and access aid. The official LCMS Documents & Publications page remains the official source location. Today's Business issues may change daily during convention, and Issue 1 is proposed business, not final Synod action unless adopted.

The Resolutions reader is extracted from Today's Business, Issue 1. Today's Business is the controlling source for proposed resolution text. The Delegate Study Guide and Omnibus Study Packet are supporting study aids. Proposed resolutions are not final Synod action unless adopted, and later daily issues may revise, substitute, amend, or update business.

The Book of Concord reader is source/library material built from a public-domain / publicly licensed PDF. It preserves the supplied text for search and reading, and it should not be read as analysis, commentary, official LCMS convention material, or a substitute for checking a trusted edition before formal citation.

The Handbook section provides navigation and study aids for the LCMS Constitution, Bylaws, and Articles of Incorporation. It is not an official interpretation. Readers should verify procedural or legal questions against the official Handbook and appropriate LCMS authorities.

The Nominees section is extracted from the 2026 LCMS Biographical Synopses and Statements of Nominees PDF. Candidate photos are extracted from the official PDF and displayed with the corresponding biography when confidently matched. This reader is a navigation aid and should not be treated as the final official ballot.

Official LCMS Resources

Use this site as a research and navigation aid, but verify all official convention information with LCMS sources.

Pause and Pray at 3:07 p.m.

At 3:07 each day, remember John 15:7 and pray for Christ's Church, the convention, our leaders, and the work of the Gospel among us.
