Resolutions

Start Here with Proposed Resolutions

A reading guide for using Today's Business, Issue 1 as the controlling source for proposed resolution text.

Source notes

This reader is built from Today's Business, Issue 1. Proposed resolutions and omnibus items are not final Synod action unless adopted by the convention. Verify all official action against Today's Business, later daily issues, convention minutes, and official LCMS convention materials.

The Delegate Study Guide and Omnibus Study Packet are supporting study aids. They do not replace the official resolution text printed in Today's Business, Issue 1.

How to read this section

  • Start with the official source text on each resolution page.
  • Use committee pages to see the floor committee's proposed resolutions together.
  • Use search for resolution numbers, related overtures, report IDs, bylaw references, and key terms.
  • Compare a proposed resolution with its related Workbook overtures before drafting questions or amendments.
  • Read omnibus resolutions carefully because an omnibus action is still a proposed convention action.

What Today's Business is

Today's Business is the daily convention publication used to organize convention business. Issue 1 contains proposed business in advance of the convention. Later daily issues may revise, substitute, amend, update, or report action on the business printed here.

Floor committee resolutions usually respond to Workbook overtures, reports, late overtures, or other official convention materials. Omnibus resolutions group overtures that a floor committee proposes not to bring as separate resolutions.
