RESOLUTION 5-14 Overtures 5-11–12, 38–39 (CW, 342–44, 359–60)
WHEREAS, The floor committee has considered all overtures assigned to it and has concluded, for various reasons, that certain overtures should be declined; therefore be it
Resolved, That the following overtures be respectfully declined for the reasons given:

Ov. 5-11 To Restore Apostles’ Creed to Historical Form regarding Christ’s “Descent into Hell” Contradicts our confessional standard (the 1580 Book of Concord has the phrase “niedergefahren zur Hölle” in the Apostles’ Creed); therefore violates Constitution, Article II
Ov. 5-12 To Review Practice of Divine Call in Synod Constitution and Bylaws Insufficient rationale; outside the purview of the Commission on Handbook
