Personal Statement
I am a first-generation LCMS Lutheran. In my previous denominations, I was shaped by what I call “Folk Lutheranism”— Lutheran language blended with American Evangelical theologies.
After joining the Missouri Synod in 2013 (via colloquy), I realized the LCMS was the church I had longed for but only recently discovered. She is my spiritual home because of her Lutheran Confessions and historic liturgy. My hope is that, over the next 20 years, my parish—and those I influence—will learn three books: the Holy Bible, the Book of Concord, and the hymnal. These are not only sufficient but exactly what the church needs amid today’s paganized culture.
