Personal Statement

The church of God is established, strengthened, and sustained by the Word of God and the Holy Sacraments. They are our only source of life in this fallen world. Indeed, in this world that church of God faces tribulation—persecution, false prophets, false doctrine, persistent sin—but Christ our Lord gives peace: “Take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Let us in the LCMS, who know that tribulation acutely, press on with the joy of Christ victorious and boldly “make a defense to anyone who asks us for a reason for the hope that is in us” (1 Peter 3:15).

Because the Bylaws of the Synod provide no opportunity for adding names to this slate, other than due to the death, declination, or unavailability of a candidate, the ballot for the election of the Central Region Vice-President is expected to contain the names of the following top five consenting candidates in alphabetical order:

Benjamin T. (Ben) Ball Joel D. Biermann Peter J. Brock Jeffrey P. Cloeter Michael P. Schuermann
