362 THEOLOGY AND CHURCH RELATIONS
(c) He or his representative shall represent the Synod in official contacts with other church bodies. The director of Church Relations shall ordinarily serve as the President’s representative for ecclesiastical relations with other church bodies. LCMS Church Relations may be staffed in accordance with the Bylaws of the Synod and the human resources policies of corporate Synod.

To Refer Some Assignments from Commission on Theology and Church Relations to Seminaries
WHEREAS, Assignments to the Commission on Theology and Church Relations (CTCR) from Synod c onventions and other sources continue to multiply and the CTCR’s workload and backlog continues to grow; and
WHEREAS, The lengthy extension of time for a CTCR report to be discussed, prepared, and issued manifests the difficulty and complexity of the a ssignment and the corresponding need for greater expertise and deliberative care in its consideration; therefore be it
Resolved, That any c onvention assignment to the CTCR that is not completed within six years of its original tasking shall be relinquished by the CTCR and referred to our two seminaries , which shall convene a joint faculty committee for further study on the issue for completion and final reporting to the Synod; and be it further
Resolved, That the CTCR is encouraged to refer any issue at any time to our two seminaries for final study and reporting to the Synod.

To Give Thanks to God for 1700th Anniversary of First Council of Nicaea
WHEREAS, The year 2025 marked the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, its having begun in Asia Minor on May 20, A.D. 325; and
WHEREAS, The Nicene Creed is a significant ecumenical creed for the one holy, catholic, and apostolic church; and
WHEREAS, According to St. John, our Lord Jesus Christ prayed for the unity of the Church on the night in which he was betrayed (John 17); and
WHEREAS, The confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church are in concord with the ancient symbols of the faith, including the Nicene Creed; and
WHEREAS, The Psalmist says, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (Psalm 133:1); therefore let it be
Resolved, That the Atlantic District in convention gives thanks to God for the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea by rising to confess the Nicene Creed; and be it further
Resolved, That the district continue to commit to sharing the Christian faith in its congregations, schools, and agencies; and be it further
Resolved, That the district encourage its members to engage in faithful and appropriate ecumenical dialogue with other communions that confess the Nicene Creed; and be it finally
Resolved, That the district memorialize this resolution to the 2026 Synod convention.
